Beneteau Philosophy

BENETEAU pledges itself to the relationship it has with each and every customer. All our energy goes into carrying out our brand commitments, mobilizing all the necessary skills in order to provide long-term assistance to those who sail our yachts.
It is our job to provide new yachting solutions, we must never lose sight of the need for innovation to serve quality. It is therefore important that the professionalism of our dealers should be beyond reproach.

This is the wind that fills our sails.
It is what has driven us for more than a century.
It is our way of designing the future!

Beneteau History

The BENETEAU adventure began more than a century ago on the quays of Croix-de-Vie in Vendée.

For 120 years, the core of the Boatyard's profession has been innovation and a passion for yachting. From the first sardine boat to the latest Monte Carlo, from the shipbuilding tradition to more advanced technologies, our expertise has grown. However, it is still the pioneering spirit of Benjamin Bénéteau that is the driving force behind our 2,500 co-workers.

Today, more than 36 000 BENETEAU power boats have sailed the seas of the globe. Steering them, their keen and demanding owners, with whom we share the same values of performance, modernity, safety and respect.

1 /1884
Benjamin Bénéteau, qualified naval architect and founder of the company, launched his first sailing trawler.

2/ 1912
Forerunner of his time, Benjamin Bénéteau, launched the first tuna fishing boat to combine sail and engine.

3/ 1964
André Bénéteau and his sister Annette with the help of her husband, Louis Claude Roux, decided that the traditional boatyard should move into yachting, and late 1964, Bénéteau diversified its business, turning to yachting and introduced polyester in the building of boats. The 'fishing/excursion motorboat' concept was launched.

4/ 1977
André Bénéteau created the Antarès range, fishing motorboats for cruising, already widely recognized for the seafaring qualities.

5/ 1981
Launch of the 'BENETEAU PECHE' at the International Fishing Boat Show in Nantes

6/ 1984
Centenary year and introduction of BENETEAU securities unlisted securities market of the Paris Bourse.

7/ 1986
BENETEAU inaugurated the Marion factory in South Carolina.

8/ 1987
BENETEAU extended its motorboat range, and developed French-style powerboating with the introduction of the Flyer range. The Flyers took part in the Diagonale des Fous, first long-distance water-skiing race

9/ 1990
BENETEAU presented Flyer F1, a model co-signed by the legendary designer, Pininfarina.

10/ 1992
The Flyer 5.60 Open was voted “Boat of the Year”. That same year, BENETEAU took over a boatyard for the professional fishing industry, in Noirmoutier (Vendée).

11/ 1994
At the American Atlantic City boat show, BENETEAU received the “Innovation Award”, awarded by the Cruising World magazine. This prize rewards Bénéteau for its creativity, both in the design of its models and in the quality of its construction methods.

12/ 1994
Already a world leader in the construction of yachts (since 1982), BENETEAU became the European leader in the yachting market, in all categories (sailboats, motorboats, etc.). BENETEAU also became the first builder of professional fishing boats in France.

13/ BENETEAU launched Antarès 13.80, its flagship. The motorboat ranges reached greater perfection with its Antarès XX and Flyer XXX.

14/ Presentation of the new SWIFT TRAWLER 42. BENETEAU's genius and intuition was acclaimed by yachters the world over. A new range was launched with a traditional trawler concept completely re-examined by the boat yard.

15/ 2006
The powerboating segment progressed at a great pace at BENETEAU with the launch of the MONTECARLO range, an Open and Hard Top motorboat range.
The European press discovered the boat during the Paris Boat show and then during a test session at Valencia in Spain. The MONTECARLO immediately made the “front pages” of magazines and was a tremendous success with professionals, in design, in its sailing performance and its easy handling.

16/ 2007
BENETEAU was awarded the highly envied title of “Yard of the Year” at the Düsseldorf boat show, rewarding BENETEAU for its creativity in its capacity to innovate, both in the design of its models and in the quality of its construction methods.

Beneteau Strength of Design

Sailing on a BENETEAU is an art of living in its own right. Well-being and elegance mixes with sporting pleasures. Each new boat arouses the keen
commitment of our designers, taking on increasingly specialized challenges. Today, it is all about extending the limits of space without harming seafaring performance or industrial progress.
Creativity is closely framed by the form of the hull, the inherent functions of sailing and the safety requirements on deck. It is also marked by material and assembly constraints linked to the marine environment such as mechanical response, corrosion, sun, etc.
However, without constraints, there can be no exploits ! So, our designers juggle with these requirements to offer our boats maximum habitability and a good balance between deck & hull fittings and clear vision. All this is already a large task, but is not sufficient for a BENETEAU. Attractive both from far off and close to, timeless yet modern, it must bestylized in order to appeal to the beauty lover that lives in each owner.

Beneteau great names in Design
To venture away from the beaten tracks of marine tradition, combining performance, ergonomics and aesthetical qualities, you need audacity.
From 2002, BENETEAU took an innovative gamble in entrusting the renewal of the Ombrine range to a great name in design. The talent of Patrice Sarrazin was to give a noticeable new lease of life to these dayboat launches. This fine and long collaboration was to be continued with the renewal of the antarès range. More recently Pierrangelo andreanni, a great name in Italian design, was entrusted with the new range of Open boats, in a very Mediterranean spirit. With strength of Personality, all these artists forget conventional ideas, without ever losing sight that they should create extremely seaworthy yachts.

Beneteau is Special Know-How
André Bénéteau's innovative inspiration still completely permeates the work of the design office. It is expressed by an incomparable know-how in developing new hulls or understanding bows. This is why the design of our motorboats is wholly entrusted to three “Yard Designers”. They use outside skills to carry out the more specialized hydro and aerodynamics studies, but they have full control of the drawings and forms. The tulip-shaped bow, a specific feature of BENETEAU boats, holds no secrets for them. With excellent wave deflection, protection from sea spray, reduction in noise, its strengths no longer need to be proved. As to the hull shapes, the performances now achieved make it possible to combine large acceleration capacity, stability, comfort and energy gains in propulsion. Every new boat should be able to smoothly cut through 15 knots, without nosing up. This has been achieved on the latest boats in each range.
AIR STEP ® TECHNOLOGY
Co-invented by two of the Yard designers and a hydrodynamics engineer partner, Air Step® technology is a BENETEAU patent. The environmental philosophy that prevails at the Yard finds its place here. Through this innovation we can increase the size of the boats, at the same time reducing the engine power aboard. This air cushion supported hull provides great comfort and optimal stability. The boat also gains lift-off rapidity when accelerating.

ALWAYS ONE STEP AHEAD

It is during the composite transformation phase that the technological advance of a yard can be measured. BENETEAU has developed unequalled know-how in this domain, enabling it to attain perfect control of the manufacturing of large laminated parts. It is now the only company in the world to control both open and close mould processes. Wiser for their well-proven know-how on thousands of decks and hulls made by injection or resin infusion, BENETEAU developed a hybrid technology, in 2004, called “Infujection”. Perfectly consistent with the environmental protection approach of the Yard, the technique of the closed mould improves working conditions and reduces the VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions into the air.
