Many of his staff have been with him for
considerable periods of time — in fact his two top
salespeople have been on the team for more than 20
years — and this, in turn, reaps benefits for the
business. “When a client who has bought a high
ticket item (such as a new boat) comes back to
trade it after three years, the fact he can deal
with the same salesman gives him a lot of
confidence. “That customer instantly thinks ‘This
man looked after me then, I can rest assured he
will see me right again this time.” Being able to
confidently advise clients on what boat is right
for them is a skill that only comes with time and
experience. “It is one of our real strengths,” says
Roger. “I’ve worked in the sales yard virtually
every day for last 31 years, my Takapuna sales
manager, Bob Mirabito has been doing the same for
25 years and Scott Little, Takapuna’s senior sales
executive has been here for 21 years.”
ROGERS BOATSHOP SECURES BENETEAU POWER BOATS FOR
N.Z.
Rogers Boatshop has been appointed sole distributor for Beneteau Power Boats in New Zealand.
Beneteau, the French brand most commonly associated with yachts in New Zealand, has a rich history in power boats and Roger observed how established the range is in Europe while there recently for the America’s Cup.
Internationally, Beneteau are in the process of separating the marketing of their yachts and power boats to appoint exclusive power boat dealers. Roger learnt that New Zealand’s position was under review.
Beneteau Marketing Director Australasia, Adam Waters, says with 34 years in the power boat industry in New Zealand, Rogers Boatshop was the “obvious choice” as a partner.
With the upcoming merger of the two Rogers Boatshop yards to the Albany location, Roger says he is personally anticipating a little more time to specialize at the luxury end of the market.
Rogers Boatshop will distribute the Swift Trawler range 42 and 52, Antares Fishing and Flybridge models, the Flyer Air Step power boats and Monte Carlo sports boats.
The Flyer trailer boats and Monte Carlo Sports boats offer a new generation ‘Air Step’ hull which is previously unheard of in New Zealand. Air is introduced beneath the hull to create a cushion of air which reduces friction, fuel consumption, and improves smoothness of handling for passenger comfort with high speeds and less horsepower.
